Elephant "Mahouts" At The Nature Park In Thailand

An elephant mahout is referred to as a "keeper" of an elephant. Not only does the term ‘mahout’ imply great physical skill, but in traditional Thai culture it has great spiritual significance

The men in the photographs below are the mahouts at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The mahouts who are employed by the sanctuaries and venues Thailand Elephants endorses, have generally been working with their elephants for many years and know how to care for and control them in an ethical, positive way.

The safety and conservation of the Asian elephant is a cause close to my heart. Proceeds from any of the elephant prints from my Etsy Shop, go to benefit the Elephant Nature Park in Northern Thailand.
